Medical Alarm Tag
Medical alarm tags provide essential, life
saving information to medical staff and the
police in an emergency. They can be worn around
the neck as a necklace or around the wrist as a
bracelet. They are recognized by all medical
professionals and health organizations all over
the World who can see their benefits.
Medical alarm tags are not a new invention.
They have been around for many years and the
first medical alert bracelets and necklaces were
pretty basic designs that provided information
engraved on the back alerting the emergency
services should you be diabetic, have allergies
to some forms of medication and a telephone
number of the next of kin. The problem with
these types of medical alarm tags were that
space was limited on the back so there was only
so much information you could engrave which was
far from ideal.
This was an obvious flaw in an otherwise
sound and practical business idea. The later
models provided a slight change to the basic tag
design. They included a small capsule where the
wearer could write more information in either
pen or pencil on a specially printed piece of
paper. This paper was either folded to fit into
a clasp pendent or is was rolled up to fit into
a small capsule. This was a good idea because
there was more information that could be added
such as blood group, if you was a doner of any
kind and the name and contact details of your
local doctor. You could also add more health
information such as the wearing of a pacemaker
or contact lenses. More additional contact
information could be added such as next of kin
with telephone numbers and even addresses.
The modern day medical alarm tags have
progressed even further. Nowadays there are GPS
types so you can be located by satellite to
within a few meters. The information held on
modern designs is all digital, this ensures that
there are no limits to the information you can
add. They can also double as a reminder so that
an alarm will sound when you need to take your
next dose of prescribed drug.
You can also buy the new USB medical alarm
tags that can be inserted into any computer so
the emergency personnel can immediately see all
the relevant information at a click of a mouse.
The modern day designs are testimony to the fact
that medical alarm tags still work as
effectively today as they have always done.
